Help young historians understand Michigan's history
The Historical Society of Michigan offers fulfilling volunteer opportunities across our state related to our yearlong Michigan History Day® academic competition program for students in 4th through 12th grade. No special training is required to be a volunteer judge at regional or state finals competitions and the input you would offer to students about their unique history projects would be invaluable and promotes their growth and understanding.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
While HSM does not have a rolling need for volunteers, there are occasional areas where volunteer work is appreciated—and if not with our organization, we can help you find it within another historical entity. Our Local Historical Organizations list of member entities includes organizations in every corner of Michigan and many of them look for volunteers year-round. For details, check out our Local Historical Organizations list or email us at hsm@hsmichigan.org.

While You're Here...
If you are interested in volunteer work, lending a hand, or aiding your local community, don't forget to check out Chronicle magazine. Our quarterly membership magazine, Chronicle, features the latest work of our member organizations and their successes in grants, exhibits, and more in its "Member News" section—plus a bountiful amount of other content tailored to feature historical societies across the state.
