Michigan in Perspective: The Local History Conference

Held annually in the spring in the Metro-Detroit area, this conference is open to anyone interested in state or regional history.

The 61st annual Michigan in Perspective: The Local History Conference will take place Friday & Saturday, March 22 & 23, 2019, in Sterling Heights.

The largest of our three conferences, the Local History Conference offers…

  • Four keynotes that cover a wide range of popular topics.
  • Twenty-five breakout sessions that address local and statewide history, preservation and archival matters, Michigan books and authors, historical individuals, cultural histories, how-to programs, history in the cultural arts, Great Lakes and maritime history, genealogy, and much more.
  • Nearly 50 exhibitors/vendors for attendees to visit.
  • A Friday Reception and a Saturday Gala.
  • Two days full of “meet and greets,” refreshments, and optional meals.
