New Days Announced for 2010 State History Conference in Frankenmuth

December 3, 2009

FRANKENMUTH—The Historical Society of Michigan announced today that its 2010 State History Conference in Frankenmuth, originally planned for late September, has been rescheduled.  The new dates for the 136th Annual Meeting and State History Conference are October 15-17, 2009.

“Irresolvable scheduling conflicts among several facilities made it necessary to move the conference to a different weekend” commented Executive Directory Larry Wagenaar.  “Although this year the conference will not be on one our traditional weekends the new dates will allow our members and friends to not only enjoy all the conference content but also be visiting a major Michigan destination at the height of the color season.”  The original date for the State History Conference was the last weekend in September.

The Historical Society of Michigan is a non-governmental non-profit dedicated to advancing Michigan’s past.  It publishes Michigan History magazine, Chronicle, Historical Michigan Travel Guide, Michigan History Directory and cooperates with Central Michigan University on the Michigan Historical Review journal.  The Society also operates four major history conferences each year, runs educational programs such as Michigan History Day (National History Day in Michigan) and teacher outreach, provides networking and marketing assistance to historical museums and societies and other services to local historical organizations.
