Books for Inclusion in HSM Magazines

HSM Magazines lists summaries of recent historical books in both Michigan History and Chronicle. Michigan History magazine features “Good Reads,” and Chronicle features “New Michigan Books.” A summary is NOT a critical review but a summary of the book’s content.

If you would like your book considered for inclusion in one of our magazines, please send a copy to HSM Magazines, Historical Society of Michigan, 7435 Westshire Drive, Lansing, MI 48917.

Please keep the following in mind before sending your book.

  • Only completed, published books will be considered for inclusion in HSM Magazines.
  • Pre-production, advance copies, or galley sheets are not accepted.
  • Books submitted for possible inclusion become the property of HSM.
  • A book must have an ISBN to be considered for inclusion.
  • The book must be available for purchase by the general public.
  • Books need to be less than two years old.
  • HSM Magazines will determine in which publication a book will appear, if approved for inclusion.
  • Only books related to Michigan’s factual history will be considered. The book must have at least 50% Michigan-based content to be considered.
  • These books will not be considered for inclusion:
