Outdoor works of art, sculptures reflect Michigan’s past

The Michigan Legacy Art Park inspires awareness, appreciation, and passion for Michigan’s history, cultures, and environment through the arts.

This 30-acre sculpture park, located in Thompsonville in Benzie County, boasts a collection of 44 major works of art and 30 poetry stones that express the Michigan experience. At each sculpture, interpretive signs help visitors have a deeper understanding of the works of art and the Michigan stories they reflect.

Taken at a leisurely pace, a hike through this outdoor “museum” typically lasts between 90 minutes and two hours.

Location: 12500 Crystal Mountain Drive, Thompsonville, MI 49683

Hours: Daily during daylight hours.

Cost: $5/adult.

Details: Free on-site and street parking. Partially wheelchair accessible; call ahead to reserve a golf cart tour. Self-guided.
