Storyteller & Speaker: Jenifer Strauss

Story Be Told, Narrative Consulting
Using Story to Enrich Lives

Dynamic and thought provoking…engaging and enthusiastic…heart-warming and educational…Jenifer Strauss uses story to enrich lives! Offering a unique brand of energy-injected performances, workshops, trainings and keynotes, she captures interest, motivates learning and inspires writing!

A former environmental and elementary educator of ten years, Jen discovered that people think, learn and imagine in narrative.  In 1993 she combined her love of teaching and story to create her Narrative Consulting business, Story Be Told, using story to help educators, organizations, and individuals connect, communicate, and achieve their goals.

Jen’s Michigan, My Michigan programs, debuted during the Michigan Humanities Council’s Great Outdoors Culture Tour, 1997-2004.  Jenifer continues to add new stories to her well-loved Great Lakes repertoire including lumber era legends, mining stories, shipwreck and lighthouse tales, mysteries, ghost stories, traditional how and why tales and personal narrative based on a life-long love affair with the mitten state.

Jenifer’s CD, Michigan Legends and Lore: Stories from Shore to Shore is a wonderful companion for 3rd and 4th grade Michigan curriculum standards.

In 2013, the Bonifas Arts Center in Escanaba, Michigan created a touring exhibit called “Selling Nahma” and contracted Jen to create a historical narrative called Celebrating Nahma: A Company Town Sold, based on the unique history of the Bay de Noque Lumber Company and the town of Nahma, Michigan. From 2013-2015 Jen traveled with the exhibit, performing Celebrating Nahma at the Nahma Labor Day Celebration, The Erickson Center for the Arts and Northern Michigan University’s Beaumier Heritage Center. Jen continues to offer “Celebrating Nahma” as one of her Michigan Programs.
