Our organization's leadership and staff
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees oversees the work of the Historical Society of Michigan (HSM) and focuses on larger and broader decisions that affect the organization. These areas include HSM's overall mission and direction, future planning, fiduciary responsibilities, and oversight of the Society's executive leadership.
The Historical Society of Michigan is staffed by an incredible team of motivated history advocates with a passion for telling Michigan's stories. They handle a complex list of duties including managing our events, supporting our state's educational programs, producing award winning publications, communicating with you through social media and our website, fulfilling subscriptions and memberships, honoring our state's history through awards and recognition programs, and so much more.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Historical Society of Michigan demonstrates our commitment to diversity and inclusion in a variety of ways, including an ongoing commitment to a diverse Board of Trustees; equitable hiring practices for HSM staff; sharing the stories of historically marginalized peoples; and a commitment to diversity in the content of our publications, conferences, and other programming.
