From history magazines to free weekly lectures and more, the Historical Society of Michigan's (HSM) organizational memberships are the best way to get all that our organization has to offer. Learn more about the benefits of membership below and join our history community today.
To qualify as an Organizational Member of HSM, your entity must be historical in nature such as a nonprofit historical organization, a library, or other similar type of entity.

Don't forget to access all of your membership benefits! Once logged in to our website, members can access all of our additional features—including previously recorded History Hounds® lectures and digital access to our magazines—on our Membership Benefits page located on your Dashboard. You can access your Dashboard by clicking on My Account.

How much does an Organizational Membership cost?
Small Organization membership is $50/year
- This level is for nonprofit historical entities and libraries with a budget less than $50,000 per year.
Large Organization membership is $100/year
- This level is for nonprofit historical entities and libraries with a budget more than $50,000 per year.
What else does our membership support?
Your membership fees also support these HSM programs: Michigan History Day®, Centennial Farms, Milestone Awards, State History Awards, and Upper Peninsula History Awards.
How do I renew my organizational membership?
- Log in to your Organization account by going to hsmichigan.org/login and clicking on the Member Login button.
- From your dashboard, click "Edit My Information."
- Click the "What would you like to do?" box and select "Renew My Membership."

"Tune In" to Weekly Lectures
Our popular History Hounds Lectures Series is a fan-favorite membership benefit. Each week on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we offer a one-hour lecture on a history topic presented by a wide variety of historians and content experts from across Michigan and beyond. Past topics have included military history, shipwrecks and other maritime topics, famous people from Michigan's past, nostalgic blasts from the past like the history of Faygo pop, and so much more.
